A digital panoramic X-ray creates a broad two-dimensional image of the teeth, jaws and surrounding structures in a single scan. Zoom Dental Clinic uses the Italian MyRay digital panoramic system to support diagnosis and treatment planning. The image can be useful for evaluating tooth development, impacted teeth, bone levels, jaw conditions and planning for procedures such as extraction, orthodontics or implants. It does not replace every type of dental X-ray; the dentist orders imaging according to the clinical question.
Panoramic imaging may be requested when the dentist needs an overall view that cannot be obtained from examination alone. Common reasons include wisdom-tooth assessment, orthodontic records, evaluation of multiple missing teeth, jaw symptoms, implant screening, extensive dental treatment or monitoring tooth development. Dental X-rays should be taken only when clinically justified, not automatically at every visit.
The X-ray itself is a diagnostic service rather than a treatment for symptoms. It may be ordered to investigate pain, swelling, delayed eruption, facial trauma, limited jaw opening, multiple dental problems or an impacted tooth. Leave the ACF symptoms field blank if the template already explains the clinical indications.
The scan is painless. The patient stands or sits still while the machine rotates around the head. No instrument is placed deep inside the mouth, although a small positioning guide may be used.
Positioning and image capture usually take only a few minutes. The actual exposure is brief, and the dentist then reviews the image together with the clinical findings.
The system captures a broad image of the jaws and teeth for clinical review. Correct positioning and selection of the appropriate examination are important for useful image quality and responsible radiation use.
